MV and LV cable thermal analysis is required for cables laid through underground ducts and covered trenches. This calculation identifies the maximum current carrying capacity of a given cable size in a given installation condition. Such thermal analysis is done in both rated condition and during flow of the short circuit current to check the hot spots and whether the temperature of the hot spots remains within the thermal withstand of the cables. Satcon is using ETAP software for conducting thermal analysis of HV/MV/LV cables in projects outside India.
