Power Distribution System for Materials Handling Plant
A material handling plant needs electrical power at high / medium / low voltage levels to feed various electrically driven loads of the plant. The plant receives power supply at High voltage in the Main receiving substation and then steps down to MV and LV levels. There are many motors which are of high power consuming such as 110kW, 132kW etc. These motors are normally fed at 6.6kV or 11kV. Motors rated less than 110kW can be fed from low voltage source of 415V. Depending on the capacity of the upstream Transformers, the motors can be started either by Direct On Line (DOL) starters or through star delta starters or by variable voltage and variable frequency (VVVF) soft starters. The panel which houses the control and interlock of all motors in a plant is called the Motor Control center (MCC). The MCC remains connected with the Plant DCS (Digital control system) or programmable logic controller (PLC) through control and instrumentation cables for remote control, data monitoring and alarms.
Satcon has a very long experience of delivering Design and Engineering services for Electrical and Instrumentation systems of the Material Handling Plant. Its Sr. Engineers have thorough knowledge on national and international standards which are frequently used in Electrical system designs.
